Come and join me as we paint this lovely sunlit scene along a quiet British canal with all its glorious summer foliage. We will be painting all this verdant greenery without a single green in our palette by mixing our own colour combinations to produce a vibrant watercolour.
Don’t be put off by the old adage ‘watercolours are difficult’, you just need to plan ahead and keep your colours clean…and don’t overmix!
So why not join me and get to grips with watercolour …it really can be Fun !
I will guide you through each stage of the painting in bite sized chunks so that you can build up the picture with confidence and have a finished painting at the end of the sessions.”

“I am a full time artist and have been painting landscapes and seascapes for many years both in the studio and ‘en plein air’ with my trusty sketchbooks. My favourite medium is watercolour, its immediacy and transparency is hard to beat and I never tire of watching the colours mix and mingle on the paper. There can be few things more challenging and exciting than painting and sketching in front of my chosen subjects whether it be in the heart of the country, perched on a coastal cliff or in a busy city. I have been tutoring for over 20 years but still get a buzz from watching students produce their own exciting works of art.
I travel extensively both at home and abroad doing demonstrations, tutoring workshops and painting holidays.
I write regular articles for the Artist magazine and have designed and produced my own lightweight ‘Cloverleaf Paintbox’ which is on sale worldwide”.

“Barry is high energy and very funny. His enthusiasm for painting is right out there, and he makes his students feel excited as well about tackling the subject at hand. Barry is a great sketcher and emphasizes all the important concepts of composition, values, warms and cools. The thing that I like about his painting is his direct and vibrant use of colour. He works fast, so it gives you little time to worry or fuss, but I am always surprised at the end of what I have done.”

“Love, love love your online classes! I’ve done two so far and have really enjoyed both. I feel my work has improved a lot thanks to your online workshops.
You do the BEST job of these workshops. I love the pace, and the instructors are all so willing to stop and help students!”

“Jackie, the courses and quality of instructors you have cultivated through French Escapade V.I.E.W. is world-class. Jackie, you do such a great job hosting the program — you are on top of your game with production quality, responsiveness with quick replay links, and also announcing upcoming events to students. A side benefit is your fun, wickedly sharp and entertaining sense of humor. Keep up the great work. I’m not surprised that V.I.E.W. is expanding and doing so well.”
